Our nation has expereienced many ordeals and difficulties along our history, however one of the most challenging and gruelling period in our history happened to be the one following the death of our great king, Matthias. The aftermath of his death was featured by factious and rivalling aristocrarcy, public nobility unsuitable for leadership, rising Turkish Ottoman empire at the state border, disintegrating central power, empty and looted treasury, and the Habsburgs keen on gaining the Hungarian throne supplemented with the bitter wailing of the underprivileged masses of the villeins. The name giver of our school, Ms.Kanizsay Dorottya proved to be the offspring of this tormented historic age of 16th century Hungary. There are not many accounts of her life left on us, though the avaiable historical records and data show that she used to be a noble lady of great power whom we, her late grandchildren can be truly proud of. She was a kind of woman whose tomb

should have been engraved with the epitaph of the famous heroes of the battle of Thermpylae:
'I have accomplished what my country asked from me!'
Lady Kanizsay - who received great education unique for the women of that age - became the wife of Péter Gábor and after his death she re-married to Imre Perényi, both palatines of Hungary, loayl supporters of the richest family of Hungary of that time, the Hunyadi's.Beside his husbands, she conducted a pretty hard and challenging life: she managed the enormous manor-house and estate, she meant to be a great and respected mother of her sons, furthermore as a noble lady of high esteem she also proved to be a counselor of the young king of Hungary, Louis II.In her age public shools hadn't really existed, however it was quite habitual for the noble and rich families to enroll and offer their daughters under the protége and disciplinary providence of prestigious high noble ladies. The manor house - and girls' educational centre - had become famous and recognised across the borders, too.The girls under her providence were educated not only for the basic curriculum of their age but also obtained example of human greatness and steadfastness manifested by their Great lady.though her greatest achievement, sadly enough proved to be the burial of the thousands of fallen heroes of the great battle of Mohács on 28 August, 1526.A fragile noble lady was able to carry out something that no powerful and brave men would have done. Accompanied by her 400 servants and the priest of the neighbourhood, she collected and buried the corpses into a huge mass grave along a decent funeral service.(more than 30 thousand soldiers lost their lives in the short battle)This outstanding human attitude and action of her - among many other deeds of hers - made us choose her name to be displayed on the facade of our school as a great human idol to be followed and respected through the centuries by all the Hungarian nurses and female students. Our school adopted the name of lady Dorottya Kanizsay in the academic year of 1925/26.
